After living in Imsouane for the past 10 months without a car, I’ve tried (or seen) pretty much every way to get there. Whether you’re traveling on a budget or looking for the easiest option, here are the best ways to reach this beautiful surf village.
1. Private Taxi 🚖
The most convenient option but also most expensive if you’re arriving at Agadir or Essaouira Airport is to go by private Taxi.
- From Agadir or Essaouira Airport: 500–600 MAD (€50–60)
- Perfect if you’re traveling with friends, as you can split the cost.
2. Souk to Surf 
If you’re traveling from Marrakech, Agadir, or Essaouira, this is one of the easiest and most comfortable options.
- Runs once or twice a day.
- Prices range from €10–30, depending on your departure point.

From Marrakech: This is my personal favorite. The shuttle has several pickup points around the city and includes a 1.5-hour stop in Essaouira before continuing to Imsouane.
3. Public Transport (The Budget Option) 🚌
If you’re coming from Agadir, Taghazout, or Tamraght, this is by far the cheapest way.
- Take Bus L33 to Tamri – 9 MAD
- From Tamri, catch a collective taxi (Berber Taxi) to the Imsouane roundabout – 20 MAD
- From the roundabout:
- Hitchhike the final 7 km, or
- Take another collectivo for around 10 MAD
Total cost: 29–40 MAD (2,90€ – 4,00€)
From Essaouria you can take the Public Bus in direction Agadir (they usually scream out loud where they are heading) at the Busstation for about 60-80dh to the Roundabout of Imsouane. From there hitchhike or take the Collectivo.
4. Hitchhiking 👍
Hitchhiking is quite common in Morocco and generally considered normal.
While it’s usually free, it’s good etiquette to contribute a few dirhams towards fuel, so make sure you carry some cash.
5. Share a Ride 🚗
Join the “Ride Share Imsouane” WhatsApp group to find other travelers heading to Imsouane.
It’s a great way to split the cost of a taxi or fuel, and it’s also a nice way to meet other travelers on the way.
One more Tip:
If you’re traveling around Morocco, I highly recommend downloading InDrive. It’s basically Morocco’s version of Uber and a great option for getting around cities or even traveling between cities. I’ve used it many times and have always found it safe and reliable.
A few things to know:
- You can only pay in cash.
- Drivers usually won’t pick you up or drop you off directly at the airport. Instead, they’ll arrange a meeting point just outside the airport area.
- They also don’t pick up passengers from the official taxi ranks, as there are ongoing conflicts with the licensed taxi drivers. You’ll usually need to walk a minute or two to a nearby pickup point.
If you’re comfortable using ride-apps, InDrive can save you quite a bit of money compared to regular taxis and makes getting around Morocco much easier.
